W Series racing

Although this website is mostly about F1, we feel that we cannot ignore the issue with the lack of gender diversity in the sport. A woman has not raced in formula 1 since 1976 and Lella Lombardi is the only woman to score a point in F1.

W Series plans to fix this with their free to enter championship of all-female single seater racing. W Series are entering their third season in 2022 - 2019 and 2021 were the previous two as they were unable to run in 2020.  Jamie Chadwick won the W Series championship for the second time in 2021. You can see the full 2022 championship standings below.

In 2021 W series partnered with F1 and are doing the same in 2022. There will be ten support races, starting in Miami and ending in Mexico.  They also visit Singapore, which will be their first race in Asia.

The W Series cars are identical, so the championship will be won by the most talented driver, rather than the one with the most money or sponsors. Currently W Series drivers race in the chassis of FIA F3 cars, but with different engines and different tyres.

In the first W Series season (2019), the drivers rotated cars to prove that they were completely identical. In 2021 and 2022, The cars are still identical but do not get switched as each driver now belongs to a different team. Instead, the drivers rotate engineers during the season as each person should provide a new perspective.
