The W Series Season will be 10 races long, with 2 double-headers. Like 2021, they are partnering with F1 this season.
Race 1 - Miami: Nerea Marti takes her first pole in W Series and Jamie Chadwick joins her on the front row. Alice Powell finished P3 alongside Emma Kimalainen. Fabienne Wohlwend crashed at the end of the session but still managed P5.
Jamie Chadwick wins the first race of 2022 and Marta Garcia finished P2 after an incredible comeback from P10. Jessica Hawkins finished P3, earning her first W Series podium. There were 3 retirements: Alice Powell crashing on the first lap after a poor start and Fabienne Wohlwend and Abbie Eaton crashing towards the end of the race, bringing out the safety car.
Race 2 - Miami: The qualifying positions of race 2 are determined by the 2nd fastest time each driver set. Jamie Chadwick will start on pole for race 2 with Nerea Marti in P2. Alice Powell will start P4 alongside Emma Kimalainen in P3.
Jamie Chadwick converted her pole into a win, with Nerea Marti in P3 (once penalties were applied) after some close battles. Alice Powell Finished P2, a good comeback after yesterday's race. Powell and Kimilainen had an incident towards the end of the race as Alice Powell tried to overtake. Kimilainen was spun around but still managed to finish P5. Race Control are investigating the incident. Abbi Pulling had a great race to finish P6, two positions lower than race 1.
Race 3 - Spain: Jamie Chadwick starts on pole again with her 2021 championship rival Alice Powell alongside her. Abbi Pulling starts P3 in her first full season of w series.
There was an all-British podium as Jamie Chadwick made it 3 out of 3 in 2022 and Abbi Pulling managed to hold on to P2 after catching out Alice Powell at the start. The only incident of the race was Chloe Chambers on the last lap, although, some drivers came pretty close - Sarah Moore and Jessica Hawkins for example.
Race 4 - United Kingdom: Jamie Chadwick starts on pole, Emma Kimalainen second and Alice Powell third after having her lap time deleted and then reinstated.
Jamie Chadwick wins again and Emma Kimalainen finished second. Abbi Pulling came third for her second podium of the season so far. Alice Powell had a gearbox issue at the start of the race.
Race 5 - France: Beitske Visser starts on pole position for the first time in her W Series career and Nerea Marti starts alongside her on the front row. This comes after Jamie Chadwick has been given a two-place grid penalty for crossing the white line at the pit exit during qualifying which has taken away her pole position and promoted both Visser and Marti. Abbie Eaton impressed today with a P6 start for tomorrow.
Jamie Chadwick wins an action packed, double-safety car race. The two Quantfury drivers of Belen Garcia and Nerea Marti completed today's podium. The first safety car came right at the start of the race, with Abbie Eaton being squeezed between Marta Garcia and Belen Garcia - her car up on just two wheels at one point - and Eaton was out of the race. The incident was reviewed and there was no further investigation. The second safety car came very shortly after the first one ended, after Emely De Heus and Chloe Chambers made contact. Chambers wa out and De Heus given a ten second stop/go penalty. Beitske Visser could only manage P4 after starting on pole, but Alice Powell made an excellent recovery to P5 from P11.
Race 6 - Hungary: Alice Powell claims her first pole position of this season, and Beitske Visser starts alongside her after showing strong pace this weekend. Jamie Chadwick had a shock qualifying and starts P5 - not bad but not her usual form. There was an incident between Tereza Babickova and Bruna Tomaselli towards the end of the session which is currently being investigated. Many drivers had lap times deleted for track limits and some were shown the black and white flag. Tomorrow's race promises to be a good one, though, as rain is forecast and drivers like Jamie Chadwick and Emma Kimalainen will be hoping to make up some positions.
Alice Powell ends Jamie Chadwick's incredible win streak with a victory in Hungary and Jamie Chadwick makes a good recovery to P2 from P5. Beitske Visser completes the podium. The race started under the safety car as the track was drying but still too wet to race fully. The first incident of the race came under the safety car, Nerea Marti spun off but was able to continue - only losing one position. The Quantfury team-mates of Marti and Belen Garcia made contact early on in the race and Marti ended up at the back but recovered to P12 at the end of the race - in front of her tem-mate. Emma Kimalainen and Jessica Hawkins made contact in the second half of the race which forced Kimalainen to retire as she had too much damage to her car. Bianca Bustamante was the other retirement after she spun and hit the wall. She tried to recover but could only just make it back to the pits, triggering a safety car.
Race 7 - Singapore: Marta Garcia takes her second W Series pole position at a very wet Marina Bay circuit. The session was red flagged for the heavy rain with 17 minutes remaining, after two drivers spun on track and many more were aquaplaning. The remaining time decreased to 15 minutes, so F1 FP3 could take place on time, and the session was planned to be green flagged at 17:05 local time. The drivers were ready in the pit lane, waiting for a green flag, but the rain got heavier and it remained red. The session was veentually resumed, but the conditions were arguably worse than when it was originally red flagged. The session was stopped and did not resume. A difficult qualifying for championship leader Jamie Chadwick saw her finish in P8 but reserve driver Ayla Agren did well to qualify P16.
Beitske Visser wins W Series' first race in Asia, Alice Powell finishes P2 and Marta Garcia completes the podium. The race was sunny and dry - the complete opposite of yesterday's qualifying conditions. There were two retirements - Juju Noda was out on the first lap after having contact. The other retirement was the news of the day - Jamie Chadwick, on the day she could have won her third championship, had her first W Series DNF. She had just overtaken Jessica Hawkins for P5, but went straight on and into the barrier. All is not lost, though, as she still has a 50-point lead in the championship. The race was an exciting one overall - we expected nothing less from Singapore! Plenty of overtakes and a one-lap dash to the line at the end.
W Series has called off the final three races of the year, to have more money for next year's season. This gives Jamie Chadwick her third W Series championship.
