2026 Hungarian Grand Prix

Lando Norris takes his first race win of the 2026 season ahead of the summer break, with Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli joining him on the podium. Another good race result for Ferrari allows Lewis Hamilton to retain second place in the championship, although there is only a gap of 9 points to George Russell. Ferrari also strengthen their second place in the constructor's championship.

A look into the next race

As the summer break comes to a close, F1 returns on the 21st August in the Netherlands. Mercedes will be hoping to continue their near dominance of the 2026 season so far, while Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull all race to catch up with the team. Ferrari in particular have enjoyed a run of good form in the last few races, even beating the Mercedes cars at times. The Dutch grand prix also provides opportunities for Red Bull and Max Verstappen, as the home crowd for Verstappen is often very strong which he will be hoping to gain some advantage from.

The championship battles always become more intense after the summer break, and therefore more exciting for the fans. Mercedes have said they are hopeful for the second half of the season, but they also need to be cautious of the reliability issues they have faced in recent races, especially compared with teams such as Ferrari and Red Bull who have not had the same concerns.

Teams such as Aston Martin and Cadillac will also be excited to return from the summer break with some upgrades and hopefully improved performance, as both teams have struggled with reliability and speed in the first half of the season.

Racing Bulls and Audi will be hoping to bring some summer upgrades, and continue scoring points where possible. Racing Bulls in particular have had many races in the first half of 2026 with double points for the team, which becomes significant in the constructor's championship.
