Round 1 - Bahrain

Max Verstappen wins an exciting season opener under the lights in Bahrain, nearly 12 seconds ahead of teammate Sergio Perez! Fernando Alonso proved that he hadn't lost his talent as he completed the podium in his first race with Aston Martin. Carlos Sainz finished P4, Lewis Hamilton P5, Lance Stroll P6 despite having a broken wrist, George Russell P7 on a difficult day for Mercedes, Valtteri Bottas P8, Pierre Gasly P9 and Alex Albon completed the top 10. Yuki Tsunoda finished P11, Logan Sargeant P12 on his F1 debut, Kevin Magnussen P13, Nyck De Vries P14 on his F1 debut, Nico Hulkenberg P15 on his F1 return, Zhou Guanyu P16 with the fastest lap but no extra point as he finished outside the top 10 and Lando Norris the last of the finishers in P17 after problems with his pneumatics system forced him to pit 6 times in the race. 

There were 3 retirements - Oscar Piastri on his F1 debut after problems with his gearbox, Charles Leclerc after engine problems that had affected him all weekend and Esteban Ocon had a tough day that ended in retirement. He received a 5-second penalty for being out of place on the starting grid, a 5-second penalty for not serving the first one correctly and a third 5-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.

Round 2 - Saudi Arabia

Fastest lap in 2023: Max Verstappen

Sergio Perez claimed both the pole position and the race win this weekend. Max Verstappen made an excellent comeback from P15 to finish P2, Fernando Alonso completed the podium in P3, George Russell P4, Lewis Hamilton P5, Carlos Sainz P6, Charles Leclerc P7, Esteban Ocon P8, Pierre Gasly P9 and Kevin Magnussen rounding out the top 10. Yuki Tsunoda finished P11, Nico Hulkenberg P12, Zhou Guanyu P13, Nyck De Vries P14, Oscar Piastri P15, Logan Sargeant P16, Lando Norris P18and Valtteri Bottas the last of the finishers. 

There were 2 retirements - Lance Stroll after being told by his team to stop the car on track and Alex Albon after having a problem with his brakes.

Round 3 - Australia

Max Verstappen wins an action-packed race in Melbourne, predicted by 2 of our readers. The race saw 1 virtual safety car, 2 full safety cars and 3 red flags. Lewis Hamilton finished second, Fernando Alonso P3, Lance Stroll P4, Sergio Perez P5 from the pit lane, Lando Norris P6, Nico Hulkenberg P7, Oscar Piastri P8 for points in his home race, Zhou Guanyu P9, Yuki Tsunoda P10, Valtteri Bottas P11 and Carlos Sainz P12 after a late penalty.

There were 8 retirements - Charles Leclerc after being beached on lap 1 (safety car issued), Alex Albon after a high speed collision (safety car & red flag issued), George Russell after his power unit caught fire (VSC issued), Magnussen after his tyre went flying when he hit the wall (red flag issued) and Sargeant, De Vries, Ocon and Gasly after a chaotic red flag restart (red flag issued).

The final lap was completed after the red flag but the order for this was reverted to before the accident-filled restart before. This put Nico Hulkenberg from P4 to P7 and Haas have lodged a protest for this and are seeing the stewards. The stewards took no further action.

Round 4 - Azerbaijan

Pole in 2023: Charles Leclerc.

Charles Leclerc takes pole position for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen alongside him.

Charles Leclerc took pole again for the sprint race, but Sergio Perez won the sprint.

Sergio Perez wins the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, 2 seconds ahead of his team-mate Max Verstappen. Pole-sitter Leclerc earned his first podium of the year, Fernando Alonso finished P4, Carlos Sainz P5, Lewis Hamilton P6, Lance Stroll P7, George Russell P8, Lando Norris P9, Yuki Tsunoda P10, Oscar Piastri P11, Alex Albon P12, Kevin Magnussen P13, Pierre Gasly P14 after a weekend to forget that saw his car catch fire and a crash in qualifying, Esteban Ocon P15 after a scary last lap pit stop with people all over the pit lane lucky to not have been injured, Logan Sargeant P16, Nico Hulkenberg P17 and Valtteri Bottas P18.

There were 2 retirements - Nyck De Vries after hitting the wall, causing a safety car and Zhou Guanyu after retiring in the pits due to a technical issue.

Round 5 - Miami

Pole in 2023: Sergio Perez.

Sergio Perez takes pole position for the Miami grand prix in a shock end to qualifying. 

Max Verstappen wins the Miami Grand Prix for the second time, this time from P9 on the grid. His team-mate Sergio Perez finished alongside him. Fernando Alonso completed the podium for the fourth time this year, but is hoping for more later this year. George Russell finished P4, Carlos Sainz kept his P5 even after a 5-second time penalty was applied for speeding in the pit lane, Lewis Hamilton P6, Charles Leclerc P7, Pierre Gasly P8, Esteban Ocon P9, Kevin Magnussen completed the points finishers after starting P4, Yuki Tsunoda P11, Lance Stroll P12, Valtteri Bottas P13, Alex Albon P14, Nico Hulkenberg P15, Zhou Guanyu P16, Lando Norris P17, Nyck De Vries P18, Oscar Piastri P19 and Logan Sargeant P20.

There were no safety cars, no red flags and no retirements this race.

Round 6 -  Italy - Imola

The Emilia Romagna 2023 Grand Prix has been cancelled due to extreme rain in the area that has caused evacuations.

Round 7 - Monaco

Pole in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Winner in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen continues his top form with yet another win, and Fernando Alonso finished P2 with Esteban Ocon P3. Lewis Hamilton finished P4, George Russell P5, Charles Leclerc P6 at his home race, Pierre Gasly P7, Carlos Sainz P8, Lando Norris P9, Oscar Piastri collects the final point in P10, Valtteri Bottas P11, Nyck De Vries P12, Zhou Guanyu P13, Alex Albion P14, Yuki Tsunoda P15, Sergio Perez had a difficult weekend in P16 after crashing in qualifying, Nico Hulkenberg P17 after having a five second penalty not served correctly resulting in a 10 second penalty. Logan Sargeant was the last of the finishers after having a puncture early on. 
There were 2 retirements - Kevin Magnussen after hitting the barriers and Lance Stroll after a series of incidents caused him to retire.

Drama towards the end caused by a rain shower meant that strategy was important for when to pit for the intermediate tires.

Round 8 - Spain

Pole in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Winner in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen wins yet again, followed by Lewis Hamilton in P2 and George Russell in P3 with a much improved Mercedes car. Perez finished P4, Sainz P5, Stroll P6, Alonso P7, Ocon P8, Zhou had a great weekend in P9, Gasly the final points finisher, Leclerc had a disappointing race in P11, Tsunoda P12, Piastri P13, De Vries P14, Hulkenberg P15, Albion P16, Norris P17, Magnussen P18, Bottas P19 and Sargeant P20. There were no retirements for the second race this season

Round 9 - Canada

Pole in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Winner in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen wins the Canadian Grand Prix as Red Bull claim their 100th victory in F1 with Fernando Alonso back on top form in P2 and Lewis Hamilton had another good weekend finishing P3. Leclerc finished P4, Sainz P5, Perez P6 from P12, Alex Albon collected some much needed points for Williams in P7, Ocon P8, Stroll P9, Bottas P10, Piastri P11, Gasly P12, Norris P13, Tsunoda P14, Hulkenberg a disappointing P15 after starting on the front row, Zhou P16, Magnussen P17, De Vries P18 and the last of the finishers.

The two retirements were Logan Sargeant after being told to “stop the car” in a critical  radio message and George Russell after crashing on track and bringing out the safety car early on.

Round 10 - Austria

Pole in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Red Bull continue their 100% win record for this season as Max Verstappen wins a very exciting race in Austria. Charles Leclerc finished second and Sergio Perez completed the podium from P15. Carlos Sainz came P4, new updates to the McLaren meant Lando Norris finished P5, Fernando Alonso stopped at the wrong time so lost out on a potential podium and came P6, Lewis Hamilton P7 after a difficult race, George Russell P8, Pierre Gasly P9, Lance Stroll completed the top 10, Alex Albon drove a great race to finish P11, Esteban Ocon P12, Logan Sargeant P13, Zhou Guanyu P14, Nyck De Vries P15, Valtteri Bottas P16, Oscar Piastri P17, Yuki Tsunoda had a few penalties which put him in P18 and Kevin Magnussen was the last of the finishers.

Nico Hulkenberg was the only retirement of the race after losing power which triggered a VSC.

We also had a safety car this race, caused by a lot of debris on the track after a lap 1 incident. There were also loads of track limits infringements resulting in 5 second time penalties for: Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz, Yuki Tsunoda (X2), Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly, Logan Sargeant and Kevin Magnussen.

Round 11 - United Kingdom

Max Verstappen wins an exciting British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Lando Norris finished P2 and Lewis Hamilton P3, and the crowd loved having 2 brits on the podium! Oscar Piastri finished P4, his best result in F1, George Russell P5, Sergio Perez P6, Fernando Alonso P7, Alex Albon picking up yet more points in P8, Charles Leclerc P9, Carlos Sainz P10 in a disappointing weekend for Ferrari, Logan Sargeant P11, Valtteri Bottas P12, Nico Hulkenberg P13, Lance Stroll P14 after receiving a 5-second time penalty for causing a collision, Zhou Guanyu P15, Yuki Tsunoda P16 and Nyck De Vries P17.

There were 3 retirements - Esteban Ocon with a hydraulics issue, Kevin Magnusssen after his car caught fire and Pierre Gasly after a collision with Stroll gave him suspension damage.

Round 12 - Hungary

Pole in 2023: Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton takes an amazing ninth pole position in Hungary, his first since Saudi Arabia 2021!

Max Verstappen makes it 12 consecutive wins for the Oracle Red Bull Racing team - the most in F1 history! Lando Norris has back-to-back podiums for the first time in his career with a P2 finish and Sergio Perez completes the podium. Pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton comes away with a P4 finish after a late charge to Perez, Oscar Piastri has another great weekend in P5, George Russell P6 from a disappointing P18, Charles Leclerc P7 after a slow pitstop and 5 second time penalty for speeding in the pit lane, Carlos Sainz P8, Fernando Alonso P9, Lance Stroll P10, Alex Albon just missing out on points in P11, Valtteri Bottas P12, Daniel Ricciardo P13 on his return to F1, Nico Hulkenberg P14, Yuki Tsunoda P15, Zhou Guanyu P16 after a slow start from P5 and a lap 1 collision, Kevin Magnussen was the last of the finishers.

The three retirements - Logan Sargeant after a spin on the last lap, both Alpine's of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly after the lap 1 collision. The collision began with Zhou, who hit Ricciardo, causing a chain reaction where the Alpine cars collided and were both knocked out. No safety car was needed as both got going but Zhou received a 5-second penalty for the incident.

Round 13 - Belgium 

Pole in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen was fastest in qualifying,  but due to his 5-place grid penalty, Charles Leclerc takes pole position for Sunday’s race and Sergio Perez will start alongside him.

Max Verstappen wins the sprint race from pole on a very rainy Saturday afternoon. Oscar Piastri has a great race to finish P2 and Pierre Gasly finished P3 in a change of pace for Alpine. Fernando Alonso crashed out and Sergio Perez also had to retire after colecting damage from a collision with Lewis Hamilton.

Max Verstappen wins a very exciting race in Belgium, with a sprinkling of rain and plenty of overtakes. Sergio Perez finished P2 and Charles Leclerc completed the podium. Lewis Hamilton finished P4 and collected the fastest lap, Fernando Alonso made up for his DNF yesterday in P5, George Russell P6, Lando Norris P7 in a difficult race for McLaren, Esteban Ocon P8, Lance Stroll P9, Yuki Tsunoda P10, Pierre Gasly P11, Valtteri Bottas P12, Zhou Guanyu P13, Alex Albon P14, kevin Magnussen P15, Daniel Ricciardo had a difficult race finshing P16, Logan Sargeant P17 and Nico Hulkenberg finished P18. 

The only two retirements of the race were Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz after a collision on lap 1. Piastri stopped on track but Sainz continued despite having damage to his car and eventually retired on lap 23 after running in last for a while.

Round 14 - Netherlands

Pole in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Winner in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Verstappen takes pole, Norris starts alongside him. A fantastic day for Williams put Alex Albon P4 and Logan Sargeant P10 although he crashed out early on. Leclerc also crashed out of Q3. Hamilton had a shock Q2 exit and starts P13.

Verstappen wins a record-equaling ninth consecutive Grand Prix in front of his home crowd, in an exciting race with very unpredictable weather. Fernando Alonso takes P2 and Pierre Gasly takes a surprising but well deserved P3. Sergio Perez finished P4 after receiving a 5-second time penalty for speeding in the pit lane, Carlos Sainz finished P5, Lewis Hamilton P6, Lando Norris had a difficult race and finished P7 from the front row, Alex Albon P8, Oscar Piastri P9, Esteban Ocon P10, Lance Stroll P11, Nico Hulkenberg P12, Liam Lawson P13 in his first F1 race, Kevin Magnussen P14, Valtteri Bottas P15, Yuki Tsunoda P16 and George Russell P17 after a late puncture. 

There were 3 retirements - Logan Sargeant after hitting the barrier which caused a safety car, Charles Leclerc after sustaining floor damage after a collision with Lando Norris and Zhou Guanyu retired after hitting the barriers in very wet conditions. A red flag was issued after this collision partly because of the weather and partly because it took a long time to clear.

Round 15 - Italy - Monza

Pole in 2023: Carlos Sainz.

Winner in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Carlos Sainz takes pole for Ferrari in front of the home crowd in Monza. Max Verstappen starts alongside him and Charles Leclerc starts P3, finishing off a great day for Ferrari. Only 6 hundreths of a second covered the top 3.

Max Verstappen makes it a record-breaking 10th win in a row, and his team mate Sergio Perez makes it a Red Bull 1-2. Carlos Sainz gets a podium for Ferrari in front of the home crowd. Charles Leclerc takes P4 after a close battle with Sainz in the closing laps, George Russell P5, Lewis Hamilton P6, Alex Albon P7, Lando Norris very close behind in P8, Fernando Alonso P9, Valtteri Bottas picks up the final point in P10, Logan Sargeant P11, Oscar Piastri P12, Liam Lawson P13, Lance Stroll P14, Zhou Guanyu P15, Pierre Gasly P16 a week after his podium, Nico Hulkenberg P17 and Kevin Magnussen was the last of the finishers in P18.

Esteban Ocon retired late on in the Grand Prix with an issue with his car.

Yuki Tsunoda failed to start the Grand Prix, after an engine failure on the formation lap. This caused the race start to be delayed and the race was cut 2 laps short after 2 extra formation laps.

Round 16 - Singapore

Pole in 2023: Carlos Sainz.

Winner in 2023: Carlos Sainz.

Carlos Sainz ends Red Bull’s record breaking string of wins after a very exciting race in Singapore. Lando Norris finished P2 and Lewis Hamilton P3 after an eventful final lap, where Russell crashed out. Charles Leclerc finished P4, Max Verstappen P5 after a difficult weekend, Pierre Gasly P6, Oscar Piastri P7 after a bad qualifyin, Sergio Perez P8 after an equally bad qualifying, Liam Lawson gets his first points in F1 with a P9 finish and Kevin Magnussen completes the top 10. Alex Albon finished P11, Zhou Guanyu P12, Nico Hulkenberg P13, Logan Sargeant P14 and Fernando Alonso was the last finisher.

There were four retirements: it was heartbreak for Russell crashing out right at the end, Valtteri Bottas and Esteban Ocon both with suspected gearbox failures and Yuki Tsunoda after suffering an early puncture due to contact.

Lance Stroll did not start the race due to after effects of his crash in qualifying.

Round 17 - Japan

Pole in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen was back on top form this weekend with pole position and the race win, giving Red Bull their sixth Constructor's Championship.  Lando Norris finished P2 and Oscar Piastri earned his first F1 podium, to bring home a double podium for McLaren. Charles Leclerc finished P4, Lewis Hamilton P5, Carlos Sainz P6, George Russell P7 after his 1-stop strategy didn't work, Fernando Alonso P8, Esteban Ocon P9, Pierre Gasly P10, Liam Lawson P11, ahead of the newly-resigned Tsunoda in P12, Zhou Guanyu P13, Nico Hulkenberg P14 and kevin Magnussen was the last finisher.

Valtteri Bottas retired after a lap 1 collision with Logan Sargeant, who reitred later on, Williams had a double DNF as Alex Albon later retired after a separate incident on lap 1, Lance Stroll retired with a rear wing issue, and Sergio Perez retired after banging wheels with Hamilton and Magnussen later on. He retired a few laps after pitting for his second new front wing, but came out of retirement to serve a 5-second time penalty, before heading back to the garage.

Round 18 - Qatar

Max Verstappen wins his third world championship by finishing P2 in the Qatar sprint, and Oscar Piastri takes his first F1 win.

Max Verstappen continues a dominant weekend in Qatar with the race win on the most physically demanding race of the year. Oscar Piastri finished P2 and Lando Norris P3 for another double-McLaren podium. George Russell finished P4, despite colliding with his teammate in turn 1, Charles Leclerc P5, Fernando Alonso P6 after a few disappointing races for Aston Martin, Esteban Ocon P7, Valtteri Bottas P8, Zhou Guanyu P9 and Sergio Perez took the final point in P10. Lance Stroll finished P11, Pierre Gasly P12, Alex Albon P13, Kevin Magnussen P14, Yuki Tsunoda P15, Nico Hulkenberg P16 and Liam Lawson was the last finisher.

There were 2 retirements - Lewis Hamilton after a lap 1, turn 1 collision with his team-mate and Logan Sargeant after severe dehydration forced him to retire. Carlos Sainz did not start the race due to a fuel pump issue with the car.

 Many drivers complained of dehydration and illness during and after the race, including Alex Albon, Lance Stroll and Esteban Ocon. There were mandatory pit stops during the race - a pit stop was needed when the tyre age reached 18 laps, meaning there was plenty of action in the pit lane throughout the race. 

Round 19 - USA

Pole in 2022: Carlos Sainz.

Charles Leclerc takes pole position in Austin, while Verstappen will start the race in P6. Lando Norris continued his recent run of pace with P2 for Sunday’s race.

Max Verstappen wins the United States Grand Prix, Lando Norris finished P2 and Carlos Sainz P3 after late disqualifications. Sergio Perez finished P4, George Russell P5, Pierre Gasly P6, Lance Stroll P7, Yuki Tsunoda P8 and it was a double-points day for Williams as Alex Albon finished P9 and Logan Sargeant earns his first F1 point. Nico Hulkenberg P11, Valtteri Bottas P12, Zhou Guanyu P13, Kevin Magnussen P14 and Daniel Ricciardo was the last finisher.

There were 3 retirements - Esteban Ocon and Oscar Piastri touched on the first lap and both retired later on with damage, Fernando Alonso had issues with his car that forced him to retire late in the race.

Round 20 - Mexico

Pole in 2023: Charles Leclerc.

Max Verstappen wins an exciting Mexican Grand Prix - a record breaking 16th win for him this season. Lewis Hamilton makes up for last week with another P2 finish, and pole-sitter Charles Leclerc completes the podium. Carlos Sainz finished P4, Lando Norris showed amazing pace and finished P5 from P17, George Russell P6, Daniel Ricciardo finished P7 in only his second race back from injury and moves AlphaTauri to P8 in the constructors championship, Oscar Piastri P8, Alex Albon scores more points for Williams in P9, Esteban Ocon P10, Pierre Gasly P11, Yuki Tsunoda P12, Nico Hulkenberg P13, Zhou Guanyu P14, Valtteri Bottas P15, Logan Sargeant P16 and Lance Stroll P17.

There were 3 retirements - Sergio Perez after a lap 1, turn 1 collision with Charles Leclerc put him out of his home race, Kevin Magnussen after a suspected rear suspension failure sent him into the barriers causing a red flag, and Fernando Alonso after having issues with the car on a difficult weekend for him.

Round 21 - Brazil

Pole in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen wins the sprint race from P2 on the grid, Lando Norris finishes P2 and Sergio Perez P3.

Max Verstappen wins the Brazilian Grand Prix, making it 17 wins this season. Lando Norris grabs another P2 finish, and Fernando Alonso completes the podium with a return for Aston Martin. Sergio Perez finished P4, Lance Stroll P5, Carlos Sainz P6, Pierre Gasly P7, Lewis Hamilton P8 on a difficult day for Mercedes, Yuki Tsunoda P9, Esteban Ocon P10, Logan Sargeant P11, Nico Hulkenberg P12, Daniel Ricciardo P13 and Oscar Piastri was the last finisher. The Australian pair suffered damage after being hit by debris from an earlier crash.

There was heartbreak for Charles Leclerc as he retired on the formation lap from P2 on the grid. There were 5 race retirements - Alex Albon and Kevin Magnussen after a first-lap crash, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu after both suffering technical problems and George Russell after an oil temperature issue. 

Round 22 - Las Vegas

Pole in 2023: Charles Leclerc.

Winner in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen wins a very exciting renewed Vegas Grand Prix, with pole-sitter Charles Leclerc in P2 and Sergio Perez just behind in P3. Esteban Ocon finished P4 after a strong weekend for Alpine, Lance Stroll P5, Carlos Sainz P6, Lewis Hamilton P7, George Russell P8, Fernando Alonso P9 and Oscar Piastri completed the top 10. Pierre Gasly finished P11, Alex Albon P12 despite starting in P5, Kevin Magnussen P13, Daniel Ricciardo P14, Zhou Guanyu P15, Logan Saregant P16 and Valtteri Bottas P17.

There were 3 retirements - heartbreak for Lando Norris as he crashed out and was later taken to hospital for checks (he is ok!), Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda both suffered technical faults on their cars but were able to stop far enough out of the way that a safety car wasn't needed

Round 23 - Abu Dhabi

Pole in 2023: Max Verstappen.

Winner in 2022: Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen takes pole, despite a difficult start to the weekend and Charles Leclerc starts alongside.

The chequered flag flies for the final time in 2023 and Max Verstappen wins, as it has been for every race except two this season. Charles Leclerc finishes the race in P2, George Russell completed the podium and secured Mercedes P2 in the constructors championship.
